Knights came about in the Middle Ages. With their training, horse and equipment, they were a formidable fighting force, much like a tank. Knighthood today is a British title that gives a person the right to be called Sir (or Dame). While Knights today don't go about in suits of armour, the ceremony is still similar from the Middle Ages. Below is a well know rock star becoming knighted.
Canadians are no longer allowed to be knighted, but we now have the Order of Canada, which is similar, but Canada has taken out the kneeling and being tapped with a sword.
1. What movie series, where the villains keep trying to create a death star, puts it own twist on knights? (hint, see the picture on top of yesterday's post)
You Becoming a Knight (or Dame, if you wish)
1. You must pass this test before becoming a Knight
2. You need to blog your own dubbing oath below (along with your Knight Name)
He is a dubbing oath the teacher made for himself
-I will befriend all lost dogs and cats
-I will help all cars I pass stuck in the snow
-I will buy lemonade from any child's lemonade stand I see
3. Come up with your knight name (also blog below) and have someone do the knighting ceremony, ending with your knight name. "I knight thee, Sir Hungry Harland"

Read about this ancient ritual and position of honour here. At the bottom of this page is a button to push to have it read to you.
2. In the movie above, how would a padawan and a Page be similar.
3. People from which walk of life would normally become knights?
4. How would school be like becoming a page and squire?.
5. What is the only thing a knight fears
To be a knight in times of old, many things had to be done, as outlined in the reading linked above. The last step was an oath taken by the Knight, oath below. Then the flat of a sword or the flat of the hand was struck upon the shoulder of the person and the words "I dub thee Sir Knight" were spoken.

3. My name- Sir. Sports Boi Kris
1. Star wars.
ReplyDelete2. A Padawan and a Page are similar because both of them have to live with a more experienced Jedi/knight and be trained by them.
3. Only people from noble and aristocratic classes could become knights and afford knight’s weapons, armor and war horse.
4. School for a page and squire was learning from a knight. Unlike a page, a squire doesn’t handle housework and would already knows how to fight. Being a page is like primary/middle school and being a squire is like high school.
5. Be won over and have to become someones slave.
I solemnly swear:
-I shall treat everyone with respect
- I shall help anyone in need
- I shall protect anyone under harms way
I knight thee, Dame Sofia the 30th
Number 5 would probably be fearful, a Knight is a slave to no one. The traditional answer is that God is the only thing a Knight fears.
